What:

Vancouver Island Green Scene is a not-for-profit association committed to building, enhancing and supporting a values-based green economy that inspires environmental awareness which promotes sustainable choices and responsible practices.
Our leadership team is passionate about the environment and committed to growing the green movement.
We are affiliated with the Creatively United For The Planet Society who has produced three very successful all-ages free festivals with more than 2000 people in attendance this past year. Please click here to learn more.

Who:

We are a membership-based organization comprised of environmentally and community conscious individuals, businesses, local agriculture, regional government, not-for-profits and educational organizations.
Founded in June 2013, Vancouver Island Green Scene celebrates and promotes the growing green business sector and innovative community approaches towards the environment and a resilient region.

How:

We host interactive monthly networking meetings where we regularly have speakers share information on a variety of related topics and give members an opportunity to introduce themselves and their organization or business and share upcoming events.

Members can enjoy further promotional exposure through our website, media, at events, social media, alliance agencies, meeting displays, group marketing efforts and speaking/hosting opportunities (see Featured Membership).

Why:

Our goal is to be a resource network and showcase of Vancouver Island’s green scene so as to inspire, build, share and grow a values-based green business community.

Meet the Board of Directors

Brian Bury – Director

Brian believes every business has a responsibility for sustainability in its operations. His business Global Environmental Lighting Services provides solutions to help companies reduce their carbon footprint, streamline their operations and save money with cost efficient lighting technology. Brian has served as a Member of Victoria Chamber of Commerce as well as other boards and contributed to many non-profits over the years.

Robin Holden – Director

Robin has managed, led and supported non-profit organizations for more than 25 years. He has helped hundreds of charitable organizations to actualize their vision and prosper through challenging times.

Frances Litman – Executive Director

Frances is a passionate community connector and champion for the environment. She is an internationally awarded and accredited Master photographer and photo educator (www.franceslitman.com), plus the founder and creative director of the Creatively United for the Planet Society, a registered not-for-profit rooted in respect for nature that provides creative environmental education through community collaboration.

Dorrie Murphy – Director

Dorrie has been an independent video producer and partner at Persona Video since 1990 working with numerous non-profits. She is an ardent organic gardener and supports many environmental initiatives.
